Chris Kennedy's Bio

As a freshman studying Marine Biology at Salem State College, Chris Kennedy had a love for the ocean and was planning on becoming the next Jacques Cousteau.  After being singled out in his Invertebrate Zoology class by his classmates for not attending the Reproduction of Eukaryotic Amoebas exhibit at Harvard over the weekend, he decided it was time for some serious soul-searching.  For Chris, this was no way to spend a weekend.  Chris's other love was radio and when he noticed a bumper sticker for the college radio station, WMWM, he knew his life would never be the same!

Before long Chris was squeezing in as many shifts as possible at the college station, interning for the morning show at WFNX and working for WHAV-AM in Haverhill after school.  It was not unheard of for young Chris to begin his morning internship at 6 am, perform an air shift at his college station in between classes and end his night working in Haverhill at 2 am.  During those twenty hours his voice could be heard on three different radio stations.  Soon Chris was promoted from intern to Morning Show Producer at WFNX.  He scripted, produced and voiced countless skits and features as well as interview specials with some of the nation's top music acts for the most successful morning show in the station's history!

Chris graduated from Salem State with a degree in English and landed a job as WFNX's Copywriter where he helped develop the successful on-air launch of the WFNX Ski Team - a promotional tool that is still flourishing for the station.  Chris held down a steady weekend shift at WFNX while he also worked as a producer and copywriter.  Before long he got his chance to shine as a full-time dj.

For nine years Chris was an integral part of the full-time air staff at WFNX.  He hosted every shift from morning drive to overnights.  He filled in for specialty shows such as the Jazz Brunch and the now defunct Boston Rocks.  Chris also assisted the production department by making commercials of all types as well as aiding in mixing and splicing sound effects and sound bites to create the station's on-air image.  He performed all the digital production on the acclaimed show "Howl" - a reading of Allen Ginsberg's epic poem, which was nominated for a Livingston Award.  Over the years Chris has also done a wide range of voice-overs for clients such as Barr Labs, Fisher College, NYNEX Yellow Pages, Winslow's Gourmet Coffee, and more.

Having lived the radio life for 15 years, it was time for a new challenge.  Chris left the radio business and was soon certified in Web Design & Development from Boston University.  He has built numerous web sites for former radio colleagues, a state senator, a nightclub, and more.  He currently works as a QA Tester for the Mazer Corporation in Charlestown.  Chris was recently commissioned to write short passages for fifth grade textbooks as well.

In December 2002, Chris returned to the radio business and can now be heard weekends on WROR and WBOS.  Although Chris still loves visiting the ocean he does not regret missing that exhibit on the Reproduction of Eukaryotic Amoebas.
